Worship

We are so fortunate in Nafferton that our church is on a hill above the street above the mere. It’s like a microcosm. When we climb the path to the door of the church, we are reminded that we’re ascending above our daily cares and duties to join the saints and the angels in worshipping God.

Our worship is liturgical, so everybody gets involved - we are always joining in with prayers, responses and hymns and we are kept moving around: sitting, standing, maybe kneeling, or going to the front of the church to read from the Bible or prayers or to receive communion. Worship is something that we do together as one people, so everybody is welcome. Whether you are used to church or its your first time, whether you are local or visiting, whether you are healthy or sick, young or old, you are welcome.

Naturally, our children also take an active part in worship. Our school children like to illustrate the bible readings and write mind maps of the sermon. They take the collection and help decorate the church. Our babies and toddlers play in the pews or at the back of the church, where there are books, toys and colouring.
